I have now lived in Dubai for 24 years. Having worked for various companies in the first few years, I decided to open my own PR, Marketing and Events company which enabled me to work on some high profile projects in the UAE and the Middle East. I accidentally tripped into the animal welfare world after I discovered a family of cats living in my apartment parking. I started with TNR and then assisted in the care of injured animals in my community.
Around this time I joined several animal welfare groups on Facebook which was a major turning point in my life and career. It was only natural that the next step would be for me to work in a Veterinary Clinic. It isn’t just a business for me, it is so much more. I wear several hat, stand in the shoes of a rescuer (I understand the struggles that they face on a daily basis), a pet owner and as someone who runs a business. I wanted to be there for people like me, to offer them support and affordable vet care. I wanted to create a family atmosphere in the clinic whereby rescuers do not feel alone and can count on us to just be there when they want to talk, be there to share the smiles and to offer comfort when there are tears.
The days can be long and challenging, some wonderfully happy and others heart wrenchingly sad. Each day is different and unexpected which makes things interesting. Without doubt one of the best part of my job is seeing an animal brought into the clinic that is broken and sick with a low chance of survival. Then watching that animal heal and come alive! Miracles do happen!
I have 6 cats, Doogle, Gimli, Bella, Jake, Nancy and Shakira. I welcomed my first dog in 2020, Granny, who has completely changed my life – and my world evolves around her! My hobbies include swimming, watching movies, baking cakes for the staff and spending time cuddling my pets!
Since I was a small child, I brought home flea and tick infested kittens and injured birds. My mom always helped me to take care of them. When the time came to decide what to do with my life, she was the one who suggested Veterinary Medicine. So, I ended up studying first Middle school Veterinary Nursing and then continuing to the University of Veterinary Medicine in Kosice, where I fulfilled my lifelong passion to care for animals and help them to be happy and heathy. I have more than 10 years of experience half of that time in Dubai. When you meet me, you will quickly realize that I am a no nonsense, straight forward honest vet who will always base my opinions and treatment plan for the benefit of the pets I see and also for my conscience. I myself am very passionate about my pets so I understand when pet parents are worried and scared for their fur/feather/scaled children. My home is filled with love from my German Shepherd, Zoe and 2 foster dogs – Koby and Kally, 3 Umbrella cockatoos Lila, Kika and Lulu and 3 African Grey Parrots Loca, Pete and Samy. My hobbies include scuba diving, reading and telling ALEXA what to do. I also enjoy crocheting, animals of course!
I Graduated from the faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University in 2008 after which I spent one year internship at the Universities Veterinary Hospital dividing my time there between different departments, where I gained further experience under hands of the school Professors. I went on to open up my own clinic in Cairo, where a high rate of daily variable cases offered me the opportunity to handle complicated cases and surgeries and gain immense experience. In 2017 I moved to Dubai.
I consider myself as being very blessed & lucky as I have a job that I am passionate about. I couldn’t image doing anything else other than working with animals. There is nothing more satisfying for me than healing a sick animal. I’m often told by reception that my consults are over running in time, but that’s because I am too busy cuddling your pets! I got married last year and we will be welcoming our first child at the end of 2020. I am a fitness enthusiast and love chilling at the beach on days off. I also enjoy Astronomy, and no, the Pyramids were not built by Aliens!
Veterinary Surgery and Radiology
I Graduated from Kerala Agricultural University in 2009, after which i competed in the National Examination to secure a Post Graduation seat in Hyderabad and completed Post Graduation in Veterinary Surgery and radiology from SVVU (Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University) in the year 2012. During my Post Graduation i worked as a night vet in a private practice. Soon after that i was selected as contract teaching faculty in the same university. After a teaching stint for a year i then decided to gain more knowledge in the field of surgery and got selected and completed my PhD in Veterinary Surgery and radiology from KVASU (Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University) in 2015. I was invited to work as a Head Veterinarian, Practice Manager and Orthopaedic Specialist in Penang, Malaysia for 3 years during which i became more involved in Hospital Management and advanced soft tissue surgical procedures. I loved working on that beautiful island with excellent food and great people. I came to Dubai in 2019 for a holiday and was presented with a few opportunities and I chose to work in Animal Specialist Clinic as I liked the attention to detail that was consistently been trying to be achieved in all aspects of patient care. Presently working as a Senior Veterinarian and Orthopaedic and Surgery Specialist with my areas of interest including all aspects of Veterinary Surgery with emphasis on fractures of both long bones and spinal, physiotherapy, ophthalmic surgery, advanced soft tissue surgery, wound management and hospital management.
My wife and I welcomed our first child, Aaron in 2020. My interests include drawing, painting and I am a tech enthusiast. I also enjoy singing, but that’s a secret between me and the pets in hospitalisation!
