I have now lived in Dubai for 24 years. Having worked for various companies in the first few years, I decided to open my PR, Marketing, and Events company, which enabled me to work on some high-profile projects in the UAE and the Middle East. I accidentally tripped into the animal welfare world after discovering a family of cats living in my apartment parking. I started with TNR and then assisted in the care of injured animals in my community.
Around this time, I joined several animal welfare groups on Facebook, a significant turning point in my life and career. It was only natural that the next step would be for me to work in a Veterinary Clinic. It isn’t just a business for me; it is so much more. I wear several hats, stand in the shoes of a rescuer (I understand the struggles that they face daily), a pet owner, and as someone who runs a business.
I wanted to be there for people like me, to offer them support and affordable vet care. I wanted to create a family atmosphere in the clinic whereby rescuers do not feel alone and can count on us to be there when they want to talk, share smiles, and offer comfort when there are tears. The days can be long and challenging, some wonderfully happy and others heart-wrenchingly sad. Each day is different and unexpected, which makes things interesting. Without a doubt, one of the best parts of my job is seeing an animal brought into the clinic that is broken and sick with a low chance of survival. Then watching that animal heal and come alive! Miracles do happen!
I have six cats, Doogle, Gimli, Bella, Jake, Nancy, and Shakira. I welcomed my first dog in 2020, Granny, who has completely changed my life – and my world revolves around her! My hobbies include swimming, watching movies, baking cakes for the staff, and spending time cuddling my pets!
Since I was a small child, I brought home flea and tick-infested kittens and injured birds. My mom always helped me to take care of them. When the time came to decide what to do with my life, she was the one who suggested Veterinary Medicine. So, I ended up studying first Middle school Veterinary Nursing and then continuing to the University of Veterinary Medicine in Kosice, where I fulfilled my lifelong passion for caring for animals and helping them be happy and healthy.
I have more than ten years of experience, half of that time in Dubai. When you meet me, you will quickly realize that I am a no-nonsense, straight forward honest vet who will always base my opinions and treatment plan for the benefit of the pets I see and my conscience. I am very passionate about my pets, so I understand when pet parents are worried and scared for their fur/feather/scaled children. My home is filled with love from my German Shepherd, Zoe, and two foster dogs – Koby and Kally, 3 Umbrella cockatoos Lila, Kika and Lulu, and 3 African Grey Parrots Loca, Pete, and Samy. My hobbies include scuba diving, reading, and telling ALEXA what to do. I also enjoy crocheting, animals, of course!
I graduated from the faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University in 2008. After that, I spent a one-year internship at the Universities Veterinary Hospital, dividing my time between different departments, where I gained further experience under the school professors’ hands. I went on to open up my clinic in Cairo, where a high rate of daily variable cases offered me the opportunity to handle complicated cases and surgeries and gain immense experience. In 2017 I moved to Dubai.
I consider myself very blessed & lucky as I have a job that I am passionate about. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else other than working with animals. There is nothing more satisfying for me than healing a sick animal. I’m often told by reception that my consults are overrunning in time, but that’s because I am too busy cuddling your pets! I got married last year, and we will be welcoming our first child at the end of 2020. I am a fitness enthusiast and love chilling at the beach on days off. I also enjoy Astronomy, and no, the Pyramids were not built by Aliens!
Veterinary Surgery and Radiology
I Graduated from Kerala Agricultural University in 2009, after which I competed in the National Examination to secure a Post-Graduation seat in Hyderabad and completed Post Graduation in Veterinary Surgery and radiology from SVVU (Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University) in the year 2012. During my Post Graduation, I worked as a night vet in private practice. Soon after that, I was selected as a contract teaching faculty at the same university. After a teaching stint for a year, I then decided to gain more knowledge in Surgery. I got selected and completed my Ph.D. in Veterinary Surgery and radiology from KVASU (Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University) in 2015. I was invited to work as a Head Veterinarian, Practice Manager, and Orthopaedic Specialist in Penang, Malaysia, for three years.
I became more involved in Hospital Management and advanced soft tissue surgical procedures. I loved working on that beautiful island with excellent food and great people. I came to Dubai in 2019 for a holiday and was presented with a few opportunities. I chose to work at the Animal Specialist Clinic as I liked the attention to detail that has consistently been trying to be achieved in all aspects of patient care. Presently working as a Senior Veterinarian, Orthopaedic and Surgery Specialist with my areas of interest, including all aspects of Veterinary Surgery. I treat fractures of both long bones and spinal, physiotherapy, ophthalmic surgery, advanced soft tissue surgery, wound management, and hospital management.
My wife and I welcomed our first child, Aaron, in 2020. My interests include drawing, painting, and I am a tech enthusiast. I also enjoy singing, but that’s a secret between me and the pets in my care!
